Benefits from joining the gOcad consortium
Business Value of the Gocad Research Consortium
Our objective is to provide Consortium members with new technology in numerical reservoir and subsurface modeling, which is generally not available elsewhere in commercial software packages.
This technology is made available to Gocad Consortium Members through (you may request a copy of the Phase III Gocad Consortium Agreement for full details):
- Original research papers and presentations, mostly concerned with methodological aspects of 3D shared earth modeling. These works are presented yearly at the Gocad meeting held in Nancy, and open to all Consortium members.
- Computer codes, mostly consisting of plugins to the Gocad geomodeling software.
- Binary codes may be applied to proprietary or public data by all Consortium members having a valid Gocad License
- Members may also access the source code to gain better understanding of the proposed algorithms.
- All Consortium members have the right to adapt and rebuild the source code to meet their specific needs. Industrial Consortium members have also the right to redistribute Gocad Consortium and derived binary codes.
- Possible internships and collaborations with Gocad Consortium Researchers on selected topics.
- An access to mailing lists where you can post your requests for help; there are currently three mailing lists:
- The "gOcad research" mailing list where you can discuss research issues with the gOcad researchers;
- The "gOcad programmers" mailing list where you can post your programming problems related to gOcad
- The "gOcad users" mailing list where you can post your user problems when you do not know how to do a given task with gOcad.
- A subscription to the gOcad Research Letter which warns you about any event related to gOcad and, in particular, about any changes in the sponsors-corner of the gOcad web site.
- An invitation to the annual gOcad meeting organized each year in June in Nancy (France). This meeting which spans a full week consists of three parts:
- A two days technical meeting where the content of the annual gOcad report is presented by the researchers of the gOcad group. In addition, the sponsors also involved in researches associated to gOcad have the possibility to present their results.
- A series of free gOcad training courses for both end users and developers.
- A half day gOcad Steering Committee where are defined and voted the orientations of research for the next year. The gOcad Steering Committee also examines and votes the budget of the gOcad consortium.
ASGA does not deliver the industrialized version of the gOcad software.
Licenses for the industrialized version of the gOcad software have to be independently purchased from Paradigm Geophysical.
Annual costs for being a member of the gOcad consortium
Information in this document is subject to change without notice and does not represent a commitment on the part of A.S.G.A. or Paradigm.Depending whether you are a company or a university, the costs are quite different:
- In the case of a University or a non profit Organization:
membership to the GOCAD Consortium is required to access Paradigm GOCAD and Paradigm SKUA products.
See Paradigm University Program 2010
The annual Gocad consortium Membership paid to ASGA for the budget of the gOcad research consortium is:- 1500 Euros
- Example: If you want to have access to the full GOCAD Suite (five licenses) including
Velocity Modeling, Reservoir Modeling and Reservoir Engineering,You have to pay in 2010:
- 1500 euros to ASGA for your annual Gocad Consortium membership
- and US $4000 to Paradigm for your 5 academic licenses (UE4a & UE9a), including support and upgrades.
- In the case of a company:
- Restricted Industrial member: Companies of 30 employees or less, annual cost is 5,000 Euros for the budget of the gOcad research consortium.
- Industrial member: Companies of more than 30 employees, the annual cost is 21,000 Euros for the budget of the gOcad research consortium.
For both Insdustrial member status, a one time joining fee of 5000 Euros is add the first year. Licenses for the industrialized version of the gOcad software have to be independently purchased from Paradigm Geophysical.
