Gocad Consortium in a nutshell

The Gocad Research Group is a team of researchers at the frontier of geology, geostatistics, computer science, reservoir engineering and geophysics, hosted by the Centre de Recherches Petrographiques et Geochimiques (CRPG) and the School of Geology at Nancy Université). This program was created in 1989 by Professor Jean-Laurent Mallet, and is currently directed Guillaume Caumon and Jean-Jacques Royer.
Our primary activity is to define new approaches to build and update 3D subsurface models accounting for available data. These developments are primarily based on Gocad, a commercial application programming interface and software commercialized by Paradigm Geophysical and initially developped in our group. These new approaches may be applied directly in our group, through collaborative projects and by academic or industrial Gocad Consortium members. More details about research activities and publications are available on the research page.
The Gocad Research Group is currently supported by the Gocad Consortium, managed by ASGA (Association Scientifique pour la Geologie et ses Applications). This international consortium is open to companies, universities and research institutes.
The Gocad Research Group has strong connections with ALICE at INRIA and SCRF at Stanford. We support the Mathematical Geosciences journal (formerly known as Mathematical Geology), edited by the International Association for Mathematical Geology.
