5 to 9 September 2011
IAMG Conference Salzburg 2011:
3 of our members and our advisor presented their lastest results:
- Jeanne Pellerin: Topological control for isotropic remeshing of non-manifold surfaces with varying resolution: application to 3D structural models.
- Romain Merland: Building PEBI grids conforming to 3D geological features using centroïdal voronoï tesselations.
- François Bonneau: Genetic-like modeling of fracture networks honoring connectivity data in the geothermal heat exchanger at Soultz-sous-Forêt (France).
4 July 2011
Our activity report for the year 2010/2011 is now available:
report.
22 June 2011
Emmanuel Labrunye, from Paradigm, will present us the new fonctionnalities of Gocad 2011 and
how to port plugins from the previous versions.
13 June 2011
The board as changed. Go to members page to see
the new board members. Gautier laurent is now president of the student chapter
and Jeanne Pellerin is our new treasurer.
7-10 June 2011
Our member are involved in the organization of the 31st edition of the Gocad
Meeting in Nancy. We have presented our work to Gocad consortium sponsors and
researchers. Nicolas Cherpeau received the best presentation award for its
talk on stochastic fault network modeling.
April 2011
Yann Gunzburger, from the Laboratoire Environnement Geomecanique et Ouvrages,
presented his work on the determination and interpretation of current mechanical
stresses in the eastern part of the Paris bassin.
October 2010
Some of the board members have changed this month; our
president is now Florent Lallier
and our webmaster Gautier Laurent.
September 2010 We have visited our partners at
Marseille University. This visit has been an opportunity to exchange ideas on our research
topics during formal presentations. We will also be involved in a field trip presented by
scholars of the university.
Who are we?
We are PhD and MSc students working
at the Gocad Research Group (GRG), which is supported by the gOcad
consortium.
We are based in Nancy, France, in the
offices of the Nancy School of Geology from which many students come. We
have education in several different scientific fields, including geology, informatics,
engineering, mathematics, geostatistics or physics.
About our work
Our goal is to prototype and develop
original methodologies which have practical applications in geology. As
such, we have contacts with many companies which are typically
involved in energy resources. Our area of expertise includes volumetric
restoration, implicit and unstructured data storage, stochastic
simulation, model geometry and topology, and GPU applications.
Most of our algorithms are developped on
the gOcad geomodeler, which is provided by Paradigm Geophysical.
